Francois Berleand
Francois Berleand

Francois Berleand played Inspector Tarconi in The Transporter movie. In an email to us he said he was told to watch a video sent to him called "Detective Colombo", and to develop a style like Peter Falk in the USA Detective Colombo TV series from the 1980's. Francois said the film "The Transporter" has a special place in his heart and it was a fun movie to do. He recalls that working with Shu Qi was a bit of a challenge as both were working with voice coaches to get their English in order.

During the filming, Shu Qi could not say the word "madeleines" and after 12 takes they wrote the word in Korean inside of a cook book and let her read it from the cook book for the scene. Because of the language barrier she and Jason could not communicate during filming. She has said it was like a "rooster and a duck trying to communicate all day with Jason".
